ABRASIVE WHEEL

TRAINING

We have two options available on this in-house training course;

1. ABW awareness training course – 1/2 day course covering the basic principles of abrasive wheels, no practical session.

2. ABW full training course – 1 day course including practical session, covering the basic principles of abrasive wheels.

It is suitable for delegates who require an understanding of the Abrasive Wheels Regulations and instruction on all aspects of the correct mounting, setting and use of abrasive wheels.

This course is best suited to onsite training to ensure the delegates receive training that is specific to the Abrasive wheels they are using and the systems within their own workplace.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Duration: 1/2 day or 1 day options
Start time: 8:30am course registration
Duration: 1/2 day approx. 3/4hrs, 1 day approx. 7/8 hours
Numbers: maximum of 6 delegates
Certification: successful candidates will receive a Skyreach certificate of competency
Valid period: each certificate is valid for 3 years

COURSE AGENDA

Based on 1 day course

Introduction and housekeeping
H&S guidelines, regulations and legislation including H&S at Work Act 1974 & PUWER
Operators Safety Code
Correct PPE and pre use inspections
Storage and handling of Abrasive Wheels
Testing of wheels for damage
Removal of wheels, selection and mounting of new wheels
Resetting rests and guards
Correct techniques relative to the work environment
Procedures’ when using a grinding machine Break
Practical session to include risk assessment
Practical demonstration delegate practice
Practical assessments, end of course evaluation, certificate issued upon successful completion of the course, once all paperwork has been processed.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

For all on site training courses a suitable class room and demonstration area is required for the theory and practical sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

Duration of the course is dependent on the number of candidates and equipment type and may vary accordingly. For all on-site training, we reserve the right to apply a minimum number of delegates to attend each course.
